I was wondering, since I receive the link to the updated .exe via email and it seems that the link is always the same for me (and for others I suppose). How are TheInstalls able to track that it is my .exe that generated the install then, while I even do not login to my account to get the .exe but download it from their FTP server?

I dun use theinstalls but I think this is not a fair comment to make. They did it for your convenience and I know they will not stoop to that level to gain free installs.
I supposed theinstalls_support can answer your question to put your mind at ease. |

more conspiracy theories... LOL
why is it an issue for them to make a folder of xx thousand exes? *shrug* its what id do personally, understand that generating exes for every affiliate takes some processing time and disk space, seems to me they have a box dedicated to that process, makes sense... |

Edit: Never mind, it was actually a reversed version of my site username.
PS: However, the thing that comed to my mind is that it can be useful when building meta installers to download the updated exe directly from the TheInstalls server during installation... Last edited by gogogo : 06-21-2008 at 09:56 PM. |
