installed in VM and sniffed connections...does not seem to be backdoored. A moot point as it doesn't work.

Can you clarify that, lots of people here do their testing in VM...if there are problems with that please elaborate. Although I'm still pretty confident that a VM install of Windows running on top of a Linux distro isn't going to result in an infection of the underlying OS

Some malware even has anti-sandbox these days, along with anti-VM, anti-debug, and anti-heuristics. Therefore, the only real way to test these things is using something like Deepfreeze. It works extremely well.

Agreed, there isn't anything that can beat deep freeze these days.
